Buy squash socks
Squash is one of the most explosive indoor sports there is. You accelerate, brake, lunge and change direction in a split second. All of those forces come together in your foot. Good squash socks absorb part of that load, keep your foot dry and make sure your shoe stays where it belongs. At Squashpoint you will find squash socks from specialist sports brands, in every height and for every foot shape.
Our range of squash socks runs from low sneaker socks to crew models with targeted cushioning. All models are in stock, available as single pairs and in value multipacks, and can be ordered with free returns. Not sure which size or height suits you? Our customer service team is made up of squash players who are happy to advise you.
Why do dedicated squash socks matter?
On a squash court you make hundreds of short, hard movements in a small space. Every lunge puts several times your body weight through your forefoot and heel. An ordinary cotton sock has no answer to that: it slips, holds moisture and loses its shape. Dedicated squash socks are built differently in three ways.
- Cushioning in the right places. Thickened terry or knit zones under the heel and the ball of the foot absorb impact without the sock feeling thick and warm.
- Moisture management and ventilation. Polyester, nylon and mesh zones move sweat away from the foot. A dry foot stays cooler and is far less likely to blister.
- A fit that stays put. An elastic midfoot band (arch support) pulls the sock tight around your instep so it cannot shift inside your squash shoe.
Blisters, pressure points and a slipping heel almost always come from a sock that moves or traps moisture. Squash socks that fit properly solve the problem at the source.
Which squash sock height should you choose?
The height of your squash socks is largely personal preference, but it does determine how much protection you get around the ankle. These are the models you will find with us, from low to high:
- Sneaker and ped socks sit just below or at the edge of your shoe and are barely visible. The most breathable option.
- Ankle socks come just above the shoe collar and protect your Achilles tendon from rubbing.
- Quarter socks sit slightly higher around the ankle and are a comfortable middle ground between low and high.
- Crew socks reach halfway up the calf and give the most coverage around the ankle.
If you play in shoes with a high collar, ankle, quarter or crew squash socks prevent irritation on your ankle bone. If you prefer an airy feel, sneaker socks are the logical choice.
What should you look for when buying squash socks?
Four properties determine whether a sock is suitable for squash:
- Composition. Cotton blends (around 65-80% cotton) feel soft and absorb well; polyester and nylon-rich blends dry faster and hold their shape longer. A few percent of elastane or lycra provides the stretch that keeps the sock in place in both cases.
- Cushioning. Choose targeted cushioning under the heel and forefoot if you train a lot or suffer from tired feet; choose a thinner model if you want maximum feel inside your shoe.
- Seams and reinforcements. Flat toe seams prevent pressure points, and reinforced heel and toe zones extend the lifespan considerably.
- Left-right fit. Some technical squash socks are anatomically shaped per foot, so the cushioning sits exactly under the right zones.
What size squash socks do you need?
Squash socks are usually offered in size ranges that follow your shoe size, for example 35-38, 39-42, 43-46 or 47-49. Some models are one size. If you fall exactly between two size ranges, choose the smaller of the two: a squash sock needs to fit snugly so it does not shift. You will find the matching size range on each product page.
Squash socks for women, men and juniors
Our range includes squash socks in men's, women's and unisex models. Women's socks have a narrower cut and often a lower finish, men's models have a wider cuff and a broader footbed. Unisex models cover a wide size range and also suit juniors with larger shoe sizes. Black and white form the basis of the range, usually with a contrasting detail or an embroidered brand logo, so your squash socks always combine with your squash shoes and your squash clothing.
Which squash sock brands will you find at Squashpoint?
We stock squash socks from brands that develop their socks from a racket sport and indoor sport background, including Dunlop, Tecnifibre, Head, Wilson, Salming, Asics and Karakal. Each brand has its own focus: from technical models with density zones and anti-blister yarns to value multipacks for players who are on court several times a week. That way you will find both a set of training socks for the whole season and a technical top model for your matches.
